What's new at Second Chance? Fruit, Vegetables, Herbs and Art!
Our new garden is a wonderful therapeutic outlet providing a peaceful retreat where victims can find solace to manage stress and anxiety.
Nurturing plants can be calming and healing. It allows victims to regain a sense of control and empowerment as they nurture and watch their plants grow. Successfully growing plants and creating a garden can boost self-esteem and confidence. It provides a sense of achievement and accomplishment, which is important for rebuilding self-worth. Gardening fosters a connection with nature, which has been shown to have positive effects on mental health. It encourages mindfulness and a sense of being part of something larger than oneself.
Overall, gardening offers a therapeutic and empowering activity that can aid in the healing and recovery process for domestic violence victims, contributing to their overall well-being and resilience.
Special Thanks to The Arkansas Community Foundation and Volunteers from Wynne Church of Christ for helping initiate this project.
